Secrecy and Trust in John Le Carré’s The Spy Who Came in From the Cold

John Le Carré, actual former spy-turned author, takes on the world he left in the majority of his novels. The following essay looks at themes of trust and secrecy in Le Carré's fictional world of espionage.

This essay was written during my first class at ASU and, though the content was primarily well-received, it also served as a wake-up call to how graduate school would be. My professor, Dr. Horan, wrote in her comments my paper was "quite well-written, but seemed rush" as if I "did not adequately plan" what I was going to write. This feedback, as helpful and valuable as it was, showed me I was not going to be able to procrastinate during my graduate program.
